TOURNAMENT FORMAT

 WCGC COMMITTEE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERALL OPERATION OF THIS TOURNAMENT

 ELIGIBILITY: Entries are open to all amateur women who live in or are a member of a club that is located in Aiken, Calhoun, Chester, Clarendon, Darlington, Fairfield, Florence, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter & York counties and have been a legal resident for the past six months in the state of South Carolina.


  • All entrants must have an established, verifiable handicap.
  • Any late entries will be given the option of playing in a space vacated by the cancellation of a player already accepted.
  • Entries are subject to approval or rejection at any time by the Championship Committee.                                                         


ENTRY FORMS will be available on the Tournament website (https://www.columbiawomenscitygolf.com) no later than 6 weeks prior to the Tournament date.  Luncheon guest reservations and payment must be made along with entry. Player luncheon is included in entry fee.


TOURNAMENT DIVISIONS: There will be three separate divisions of competition which must be selected on the entry form.


CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION  Tournament Champion must play in this division.  This will be a 36-hole (2 day) competition.  Entrants under 65 with a handicap index of 10.0 or less must play in this division. Higher handicaps may choose to play in this division.  The Tournament Committee will set the course tees for this division. (Usually 5400 yards or longer)


CITY DIVISION  Entrants with a handicap index of 10.1 or higher may choose to play in this division.  This will be a 36-hole (2-day) competition.  This division will usually play from the regular ladies' tees with adjustments made at the determination of the committee.


SENIOR DIVISION  Senior Division entrants must be 65 years or older during the tournament year. This will be a 36-hole (2-day) competition. This division will usually play from the regular ladies' tees with adjustments made at the determination of the committee.


REGISTRATION: All players must register at least 30 minutes before playing first round. 


PAIRINGS: 


            First day pairings are to be made by handicap index sent in and verified straight down the line (within divisions), 1-2-3-4, 5-6-7-8, etc.  (Any handicap will be accepted for entry into the tournament, however, a 36 handicap is the maximum used for net prizes.)  First day pairings to be made by Pairings Committee - 2nd day pairings to be made by Pro Shop according to guidelines set forth.

            Second day pairings are to be made by the first day scores, straight down the line (within divisions and flights), 1-2-3-4, 5-6-7-8, etc. 

            Flights Flights will be determined by verified handicap index prior to the first day of the tournament. 

            Starting Times: There will be a 9:00 AM shotgun start both days.  Starting holes will be assigned according to the pairings, straight down the line and reversing the order each day. 

            Final day of play will be a modified shotgun start, with the 2 leading Championship Division groups teeing off on hole #1 and leaving holes 17 through 18 open. (1A - 2ndChampionship group, 1B - leading Championship group)

CHAMPION (Women's) - Prize & Traveling Silver Bowl

RUNNER-UP (2nd low gross of Championship)

MEDALIST Low Gross Championship Division score for first day. 

OVER 50 LOW GROSS participant over 50 years of age playing in the Championship Division and not the overall Champion or Runner-Up.

CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT participants receive a medal.

CITY DIVISION WINNER 2 day Low Gross City Division score 

SENIOR DIVISION WINNER 2 day Low Gross Senior Division score

FLIGHT WINNERS All Flights -Number and size of flights determined by participation

LEON IRONS CLUB TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD: Determined by the total of the 3 low net scores each day from any one club. (Does not have to be the same 3 players on any given day.)  A Traveling Trophy will be presented and kept at the winning club for the year in addition to a plaque to be kept at the winning club. Ties broken by 3 low net scores from the tied clubs on the last day of play.


Field Day Prizes:  (First day of play only) Pro Shop certificates.   

Low net in all flights.  Ties to be played off on scorecard beginning with hole #1 of second day's play only with handicap.  If still tied after 18 holes - blind draw.

Closest to the pin on all par threes.

Closest to the line.


TIES: Ties for the WOMEN'S CHAMPION, CITY DIVISION WINNER, & SENIOR DIVISION WINNER only will be broken by sudden-death play-off, starting on hole # 1.  All other ties will be determined using the USGA Scorecard Playoff method.  All ties broken by scores on the last day of play only.
